Searching and applying for jobs

MY JOB CENTRE

  1. After you have finished registration you’ll arrive at the Job Centre screen. This is where you have access to the tools you’ll need to find and apply for jobs on the site.
  2. The tools you have available are: Quick Search, Advanced Search, Front Page Logos, Category Listings, Job Shortlists, Job Application list and the Employer Shortlist.

QUICK SEARCH

  1. The quick search box allows you to quickly browse the jobs on site by suburb or postcode, Keywords, Work type, Ads posted today, or location in either a city or state.
    Enter your search term or click a link.

ADVANCED SEARCH

  1. The advanced search allows you to search by Job Category and Postcode or State, by type of work, by experience and by the date of job listing. For example, you can search for part time retail work, in Sydney, within 5km's of the CBD that doesn't require experience that was listed in the last 3 days. 
  2. You can also save the search, so you don't have to enter the information again. You can also opt to have the search results emailed to you every time a new job fitting your search comes online.
  3. You can also email the page to a friend or run a search for a friend and email them the results.


FRONT PAGE LOGOS

From the Job Centre page, you'll be able to see 6 logos of various companies running along the bottom of the screen. Clicking on these logos takes you direct to their jobs.

CATEGORY LISTINGS

Click on any category in the white box and be taken to all jobs we have on the site that match that category regardless of location.

JOB SHORTLIST

This is a list of job types that you have shortlisted. This can be used if you see a job you like, but have to alter your resume to match the position. You can shortlist the job and get access to it again from your Job Centre.

JOB APPLICATIONS

This is a list of jobs that you have applied for on site. You can click into any of them to review details about you application.

EMPLOYER SHORTLIST

This is a list of employers you have previously selected to keep an eye on. You can select an Employer to add to your shortlist when you view their job. When the employer posts a new job ad you will be notified.

APPLYING FOR A JOB

  1. Once you have a found a vacancy on hippo.com.au you would like to apply for, you need to click the Apply Now button at the bottom of the ad. This will take you to the application page or to the employer/s HR section.
  2. The application page gives you the opportunity write a cover letter that the employer will read when they review your application. You can check out our cover letter tips on the site too.
  3. The employer may also have put up to 5 job specific questions that they would like you to answer. Answer these as best you can.
  4. Then press 'Submit Application'
  5. Once you have finished you will see a green box confirming that your application has been submitted.
  6. You can find a list of the jobs you've applied for on the site from your Job Centre homepage.
