Creating a Job Ad

LOGIN TO EMPLOYER HOMEPAGE

  1. Go to www.hippo.com.au
  2. From the hippo.com.au homepage, click the ‘Employer Login’ button
  3. Then enter in your Username and Password in the white box on the left side of the screen, then select ‘Login’
  4. You’ll then be taken across to your Employer Homepage

CREATING A JOB AD

  1. From the Employer Homepage, click the New Ad button
  2. Fill out the Job Position Title, the Job Description and Short Description boxes.
  3. Select the Work Type, the Estimated Weekly Hours and select the Experience Required box to list the job as requiring experience in Search Listings.
  4. Check the Job Location is correct. The Suburb and Postcode have auto complete fields after typing in the first few characters.
  5. Use the template selector to select appropriate background graphics for your ad.
  6. Select up to three work type Sectors to list your job under.
  7. Press the ‘Next’ Button

CHOOSING JOB AD TYPE

  1. Using the tabs on the left, select which level of listing you would like to use, Standard, Featured or Free.
  2. Using the radio buttons on the right, select how you would like to handle applications; hippo.com.au can store applications, email them to you, or link to your website.
  3. If you need to you can limit the time period your ad is listed under it’s 30 day lifespan. Select the dated radio button and enter in your Expiry date.
  4. If you want to you can force candidates to answer up to 5 specific questions as they submit an application. You can enter in your questions here.
  5. Press the ‘next’ button, you will be taken to the Preview screen. If you are not happy with the preview click the job details button and you will be taken to the edit screen.


PUBLISHING JOB ADS

  1. After you are happy with your job preview, click the ‘Next’ button, this will take you through to the publish screen.
  2. Press the Publish button this will place your ad live on the site, while deducting the indicated credit from your credit balance on the right. If you have no more credit you will be directed to the credit purchase system.

MANAGING JOB ADS

  1. Once you have logged in the Manage Job Ads menu allows you to Suspend, Un-suspend, Archive, Copy, Publish and Delete your ads.
  2. Select the ad or groups of ads you wish to alter in either one of the three Active, Inactive or Draft Ad tabs
  3. Then select the appropriate Action icon from the tab menu and the ads will be altered.

MANAGING APPLICATIONS

  1. Once an ad has applications, click the number next to the job’s listing in the Manage Job Ads menu. This will take you through to the details of people who have applied.
  2. You can see the cover letter, photo and basic information about a candidate, click on the ‘View Full Application’ button to see their full profile and contact information.
  3. You can also select candidates and manage them into Accepted and Rejected tabs. You do this by selecting the box above the candidate’s profile and then clicking the appropriate accept or reject button from the top menu.
  4. If you have had applications emailed to you, you can reply from your email inbox and a reply is drafted to the candidate’s email address.
  5. You also have the option of emailing applications to your email account. Select the applications you wish to email and then click on the Email button from the top menu.


MANAGING COMPANY INFORMATION AND PROFILE

  1. Once logged in, click on the Accounts button to be taken to Company Details menu. Here you can update your contact information and business details.
  2. You edit your Company Profile by clicking on the Company Profile button.
  3. Enter in your Company Name, the Number of employees you have, a blurb about your organisation and select the background graphics to use on site.
  4. You can also upload your company logo here to run alongside your ads. Logos should be cropped to 191px wide and 124px high.

REPORTING

  1. Once you are logged in click on the Reports link to be taken to the reporting section.
  2. Click on the appropriate report you wish to run and if requested enter a date range for the system to work with.
  3. Once the data has been prepared you can download the results in Excel format.

Quick Tips

Here are some quick tips to help you get the most out of the system.

  • For security reasons the system will log you out automatically if you are inactive for more than 60 minutes. While working on job ad copy, we recommend regularly pressing the save button or writing job copy in a local document, such as .Doc or .Txt file located on your own machine.
  • Don’t neglect your company profile. Your ads on site are linked automatically to the profile. Your profile is a great place for giving candidates the bigger picture about working for your organisation and they do read it. It also allows you to concentrate on the core of your Job Ad, keeping it shorter and more effective. An empty company profile looks messy and doesn’t leave candidates with a good impression. If you are running short of time, just email in the copy to us at support@hippo.com.au or call us on 1300 788 874, we’re here to help.
  • If you’re having problems formatting your logo to run on site properly, just email a large .jpg .gif or .eps file to support@hippo.com.au and we can crop it correctly in a flash and upload it to your account.
  • If you have a number of different brands you would like represented on the website, but administered from one account, please call us on 1300 788 874 to discuss sub account registration and setup. Basic setup does not incur a charge.
  • If you are running third party human resource or job posting software that you would like to have candidates directed to please call us on 1300 788 874. hippo.com.au integrates with many major suppliers already. We can either arrange for integration or find the best way to have our system link to yours.
  • If you link your ads on hippo.com.au to your careers website, use the most direct link possible to stop candidates dropping out of the click stream. For example don’t send them to:
    http://www.yourcompany.com.au.html
    send them to:
    http://www.yourcompany.com.au/yourcareers/yourjob16.html
  • You can copy your older job ads and re-post them again and again. Creating a bank of job ads can save you huge amounts of time in the future. Chop and change the minor details and you’re set to go!
  • If you’ve got lots of applications for a job you can dial up or down the number of applications you can view on one page, many employers dial up the full number on one page and then open them in other tabs to save time going back and forwards between pages.
  • We recommend using hippo.com.au in Firefox or versions of Internet Explorer 7.0 and above.
